The range of my artistic activities includes classical sculpture, sculpture in relation to contemporary design and different experiments within the domain of sculptural concept. Besides the classical sculpturing materials, I use wire as a final material for sculptures as 3D drawings - “forms of the moment”... Further, I tend to investigate the effects of their interactions with light....
Such an approach could appear as inquiring the poetic inherited of Calder, but my intention is related with the esthetical issues of 21st century - inspired by the question of consequences of the constant acceleration for human sensory perception.
My artworks question the position of fine arts, especially of the artistic discipline of sculpture in our over designed empire of informatics, where the contemporaneous products incline to invisibility. Information technology immanently decreases the time and the space, therefore: “Does art, as well as technology, achieve its perfection as immaterial - invisible?”
Inspired by the idea of “invisible”, my scultural work inquires “information”, as a Kilobyte or satellite transmission, that generates a minimum of a solid material, leading it to material appearance of a 3D object – “form with a memory”. Unlike the product of the artificial intelligence, predictable and mathematically perfect, these forms have immanent organic genuine, unpredictable and expressive.
By giving special attention to the interplay of light (variety of lightening effects), material (metal/wire), volume and the absence of mass, I want to achieve maximum of transparency and illumination – form appearing as imaginary, as an idea, a glance of a moment…
Every piece is hand made, directly modelled in metal, constructed as a 3D drawing with strong and tensed form. Different types of metal coatings and galvanization process are introduced to achieve variety of appearing effects. Reflective to contemporary world, thematic of my work is mostly intrigued by the global psychological tendencies of consuming society, as the cycle “fetish”…
